Subject: [EXIM] Broken .forward files?
Hello

It is that time of year for us university types when users make a
complete mess of their .forward files for vacation messages, etc.

I won't clutter up your mailboxes with the infinite variety that they
come up with but one perenial is the DOS induced confusion between '/'
and '\'. Such as /username, ..... instead of \username, ....

I looked through the FAQ and
Q0422: When a user's .forward file is syntactially invalid, Exim defers
delivery of all messages to that user, which sometimes include the
user's own test messages. Can it be told to ignore the .forward file
and/or inform the user of the error?

looks like the correct way to handle these things but the error message
that is generated is not a syntax error but a failure to create the
locking file in the root "/" directory.

Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks

Neil
