[EXIM] Forcing SMTP instead of ESMTP?

Hi,

our mailserver (exim-2.12) has to deliver a lot of messages to a
Novell-Server running Mercury 1.44.

It seems that Mercury is somewhat broken, as it timeouts when receiving
data >~20k.

Someone said these timeouts only occured when sending mail to Mercury using
ESMTP, so my question is: Is it possible to force exim to deliver mail to a
certain host using SMTP even if this host says it understands ESMTP?
