[EXIM] Using a dbm file instead of /etc/passwd

Greetings,

Is it possible to get exim to use a dbm file, instead of /etc/passwd, for
local delivery? I have a file (passwd.db) that is essentially identical
to the passwd file, but I haven't been able to get anything working yet.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?
