Subject: [EXIM] Sender Rejection playing havoc with my backup mail servers
I currently get backup mail service from my ISP, PSINet, and after switching
to Exim 1.82 and turning on sender_verify (with the only exception being my
inhouse networks by using sender_verify_except_nets), all messages that went
to the backup mailservers would not flow into Exim. The reject log was
filled with messages like the following:

1998-01-15 01:27:03 0xskc4-0003hu-00 rejected from mx6.smtp.psi.net
[38.8.140.2]: temporarily unable to verify sender address (try again
later) <owner-cifs@???>

In fact, I get a lot of these from the main server that services that
mailing list as well:

1998-01-15 00:25:46 0xsjex-0003ax-00 rejected from vms.dc.lsoft.com
[206.241.12.2]: temporarily unable to verify sender address (try again
later) <owner-cifs@???>

To combat this problem, I've added a
sender_reject_except_hosts=*.smtp.psi.net, and that seems to have allowed
the mail to flow in, but I'm curious why this happened. Is there any way to
know why Exim said "temporarily unable to verify sender address"? I haven't
had any DNS problems lately, so I'm not sure what's going on...
