I regret that I have to give you all an unexpected Christmas present. A
couple more bugs have been found and they are too serious to leave for
the next major release. I have just created
ftp://ftp.cus.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/programs/exim/exim-1.82.tar.gz
I tried to make a patch file, but it failed to work properly. The bug
fixes are:
(1) The "unseen" option on directors and in filter files failed to work
on local parts that had prefixes or suffixes. This is a very, very old
bug. I don't think it has ever worked.
(2) There were some bugs in the PCRE regular expression library which
Exim now uses (since 1.80). In particular, patterns that ended in a
negated single-character class (e.g. [^k]$ ) failed to work correctly.
(3) The "quote" operator introduced in 1.80 inserted quotes for strings
containing full stops (periods) which was an oversight on my part. It
now allows alphanumerics, full stops, hyphens, and underscores to be
unquoted.
Have a good holiday. The Exim Development Team (that's just a fancy name
for me :-) is taking a break from December 24th to January 1st, inclusive.
