I would suggest rewriting from scratch. Eximon is a hack of a hack and
could do with a complete rewrite as it is.

Note that if you want to use regular expressions in a C program, I'm
going to release my PCRE regex library with the next release of Exim. It
provides regular expressions that are compatible with Perl 5.004.
