I see it somewhat worse than that ...

% host -t ns cmc.comsat.com kato.cws.COMSAT.com
cmc.comsat.com NS cmc1.cmc.comsat.com
cmc.comsat.com NS kato.cws.comsat.com
cmc.comsat.com NS buzz.cmc.comsat.com
% host -t ns cmc.comsat.com misnt3.cmc.comsat.com
cmc.comsat.com NS misnt3.cmc.comsat.com
cmc.comsat.com NS misnt5.cmc.comsat.com
%

i.e. there are two disjoing worlds.
As it happened, my NS picked the "kato" world, and it all looked OK !

Things get worse -- the "registered" auth NSs for comsat.com are:

% host -t ns comsat.com
comsat.com NS RO.CTD.comsat.com
comsat.com NS NS.DIGEX.NET
%

but when asked, they say:

% host -t ns comsat.com RO.CTD.comsat.com
comsat.com NS ro.ctd.comsat.com
comsat.com NS neal.ctd.comsat.com
comsat.com NS killer.cts.comsat.com
comsat.com NS ns.digex.net
comsat.com NS ns2.digex.net
% host -t ns comsat.com NS.DIGEX.NET
comsat.com NS killer.cts.comsat.com
comsat.com NS ns.digex.net
comsat.com NS ns2.digex.net
comsat.com NS ro.ctd.comsat.com
comsat.com NS neal.ctd.comsat.com
%

which are indeed consistant, and what they all themselves have:

% for h in `host -t ns comsat.com ns.digex.net | sed 's/.* //'`; do echo
+++ $h; host -t ns comsat.com $h; done

whareas the COM NSs think differently (at least they're a non-disjoint subset!)
