After running exim for a few hours on one of our producion machines,
(SCO5) it stopped answering incoming smtp connections. Sending it a
sighup woke it up again, and the only thing I can see that could be a
problem is a huge number of connections to a site in netstat, all
connections in LAST_ACK.
This site is not pingable at the moment, so it's possible that it fell
off the net while talking to exim. Here's a list of all the connections
shown by netstat. ps -ef shows only 2 copies of exim running at the
moment though, so unless my sighup disconnected all the processes
attached to these connections, there are no connections. If this happens
again I'll check with ps to see how many copies of exim are running
before restarting, but does exim log anything when it stops accepting
connections due to a maximum reached? Notice the amount of data queued
for each connection is exactly the same. This seems odd.
