Exim 1.58 (sic) is now available:

By courtesy of Ilya Ketris there is now a mirror of the exim

1.58 is mainly a tidy-up of 0.57, but there are a small number of new
features. I would not normally have updated the full documentation until
there was more to do, but as this release may end up on a GNU CD-ROM I
have in fact brought the documentation fully up-to-date.

I would be grateful if people could try 1.58 as soon as convenient so
that it gets as much use as possible before December, when the ROMming
may happen. I won't be adding any new features for a little while, but
I will fix any bugs and untidinesses that may show up, and issue yet
another release if necessary.

For those that don't want to print the documentation out again, the
changes are:

1. The replacement address in a rewriting configuration line can now be
enclosed in double quotes, and within the quotes the normal escape
conventions apply. This allows for expansion strings containing spaces.

2. Expansion variables original_local_part and original_domain refer to
the top-level address; they are likely to be different to local_part and
domain after a .forward or alias expansion.

3. Expansion variables sender_address_local_part and sender_address_domain
contain the separate parts of sender_address, making some tests easier in
filter files.

4. The conditions "is" and "is not" have been added to the filter
language. They do an exact, case-independent match. Typical use is

if $local_part_suffix is "-foo"

5. File lookup handling for sender_reject[_recipients] has been
extended as previously discussed on the list. If there is no @ in the
item and a domain lookup doesn't succeed, try looking up the complete
user@domain, but suppressing any partial matching. Thus a single file
can be used to contain both (partial) domains and complete addresses to
be matched against sender addresses.

6. The sender_address_relay option provides a list of sender addresses
that are permitted to relay via the host to any domain. Any sender may
relay to relay_domains. The checking is done as for sender_reject and is
in addition to the host checks for relaying. Of course, sender addresses
are easily forged, but this does allow you to limit the scope of the
forgery, and catch non-forged, but unwanted messages.
