Bug ID: 3095
Summary: Authenticator that proxies to an external IMAP server
Product: Exim
Version: 4.98
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW
Severity: wishlist
Priority: medium
Component: SMTP Authentication
Assignee: jgh146exb@???
Reporter: jgh146exb@???
CC: exim-dev@???
IMAP uses SASL. After a conn setup to an IMAP server (which could be a TCP
conn
to a remote system), just proxying the AUTH data and responses should be
simple.
We'd want to notice the eventual good/bad status.
Enforcing TLS use, for remote conns combined with plaintext auth methods,
would be preferred.
Ref:
https://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc9051.html#name-authenticate-command
This would be usable against a remote Dovecot, which point was raised on
