This happens if the file feeded into -bem contains a single "." on a line (eg.
a -Mvc dump). And only on 4.95, but not on 4.96. So I guess it was somehow
fixed by the changes made for 4.96.

Since I do not have a 4.95 build without USE_READLINE I can't test if this
happens without it as well.

Case closed on my side.
