Bug ID: 2879
Summary: bad memory allocation requested
string_localpart_utf8_to_alabel
Product: Exim
Version: 4.94
Hardware: x86
OS: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: bug
Priority: medium
Component: Routing
Assignee: unallocated@???
Reporter: pgadmin@???
CC: exim-dev@???
When processing a mail with a non-ASCII mail address (
jürgen.someone@???), exim writes to paniclog:
bad memory allocation requested (-1703591931 bytes) at
string_localpart_utf8_to_alabel
Delivery status for jürgen.someone@???: got 0 of 7 bytes (pipeheader)
from transport process 912526 for transport smtp
The mail had passed two exim4 4.92 instances (Debian Buster) fine, then
entering exim4.94 (Debian Bullseye) for final delivery to our mailstore (which
would fail, since there's no such user on our system. From our mailarchive, I
can see that the mail isn't spam, but simply not meant for one of our users).
So it appears that 4.92 handles the address just fine, while 4.94 has problems.
