Send mails and these messages are not related.
As soon as you connect your server to the internet, all kind of clients
will try sending mails via your server. If your server isn't an open
relay, these attempts should be blocked and will end in the above error
message (if you use a near-default-config).
To diagnose why you can't send mails, we need more details. Ideally
an unobfuscated log-excerpt of an unsuccessful delivery attempt.
