I am sorry to have to say this, but there is only one of me, and after 6 years
of continuing to support PCRE1 by fixing bugs, I think it is time to stop. I
have lost familiarity with the old code, which in PCRE2 has been refactored and
tidied and generally made easier to maintain. Certain issues cannot be fixed in
PCRE1 without major refactoring - this may be one of them, though I cannot
remember for sure.
So, unless somebody else steps up and offers to take on the maintenance of
PCRE1, I regretfully have to agree with you - there is not much point in
reporting PCRE1 problems. Note that by sticking with PCRE1 people are missing
out on new functionality as well as not getting the latest Unicode versions.
