Thank you for this report. I am amazed that nobody, including myself, noticed
this problem before. Just luck that none of the actual tests went wrong.
Experiments show that the only delimiter that works properly with perltest.sh
is a slash (your suggested ! gives an error, as do all the others). I have
therefore changed all patterns in tests 1 and 4 to use a slash, and added an
extra data line to test 1 that illustrated the problem. I have also added
comments about this issue.
