Apologize for the overly verbose explanation, which was obviously confusing
The patch is adding a functionality to cmake that is already in configure, and
can be therefore safely added to 10.35 without risk of a regression.
with the current code really old systems that don't have mkostemp would fail to
build even if they are configured successfully.
at least with this code the problem will be detected at configuration time
(only for cmake) and a build failure prevented so it might be IMHO and
improvement.
