Unfortunately I have to admit defeat on this for now. The error still gets
logged a handful of times a day, but I cannot work out the exact conditions to
trigger it. The log pattern mentioned is always there when it is triggered.....
but the converse is not true. i.e. It looks like something in there is
necessary, but not sufficient. I have tried a large number of different
combinations of things without being able to hit the target.
