Something unexpectedly killed that transport process. Possibly you,
as part of the upgrade sequence you did?

If it's only the one log line, ignore it. If it is repeating
continuously, shut down the exim service, wait for all exim
processes to complete (or kill them, if they persist for too
long), then start the service again.
