ePub work was done by me in 2013, is in git:

https://git.exim.org/exim.git/shortlog/refs/heads/epub

It's the last two commits there:

On reflection, April 1st might not have been the best day to announce and ask
for testing and feedback. Mail-thread on exim-users starts at:

https://lists.exim.org/lurker/message/20130401.205154.71b1254b.en.html

Biggest problem was inconsistency around fixed-width content wrapping or not.
It wrapped for me, but for others was truncated. iBooks was wrapping just
fine, other ebook readers were not.

I see from the thread that I wrote:
} It would be good if CSS offered a way to do something like insert a ↵
} arrow whenever a line-break is inserted by reflow and we could mark up a
} block to have that happen. Anyone know how to do that?

I know that modern CSS has this, I set it up just recently on my blog, but it's
so modern that Chrome doesn't support non-ellipsis in it: the "text-overflow:"
setting. Firefox works. So probably not good for eBooks (at this time).
