Depends on whether you can write what you want in portable fashion.

Depends on your customers and what package management system they use.
This part belongs to the distros, in the Linux segment of the world
(I'm unsure if there's anyone else left now, but if there is then
there is presumably an equivalent layer of organisations). It is
not something managed by the Exim project.
