@Jeremy, I am not sure what the meaning of your comment was. If it was like
"you are stupid, don't try to be smart" then please don't do it here, or
elsewhere, as personal attacks don't help.
If it was like "what you want is not allowed" then it would require a bit more
detailed explanation, since it seems to be a completely valid test, in my
opinion:
1) test env-sender, recipient, etc by routers
2) test env-sender by callout, and put result in a header for spamassassin
3) test header for valid Sender, no callout, but reject if it fails routers
(like invalid domain, non-existent mx, ...)
Test#3 does not necessarily test the envelope sender, since From:, Sender: etc.
may contain the same or different address. Right now exim uses routers+callout
test if the sender-considered header is the same as an already tested address
(like envelope sender), but routers only if it isn't, which, in my humble
opinion, is a really inconsistent behaviour.
Apart from this I am curious how would you get the above mentioned test done
(without personal attacks and offending comments), but it doesn't change my
opinion about this bugreport requiring to be fixed.
