It's likely to be fixed soon.
I prepared a patch and this seems to be working for me.
But as your problem isn't as often here as it bites you, I'm not sure,
if this patch is really a fix, or if it breaks more than it fixes.
Would you be willing apply some patch(es) to your Exim und run it?
