Yes, it strips off the dot, *except* you set it there by using -I. or
-Mlib=. on the command line. And it ignores any PERL5LIB, PERL5OPT
environment. The only chance to get it there is to call the interpreter
manually and use -I. or -Mlib=., where the dot is quite visible.

All other parts of the @INC are absolute, as far as I see and know.
