[2+0]~$ dig -v
DiG 9.10.4-P3
[4+0]~$ grep --version
grep (GNU grep) 2.25
On the other hand, on Debian jessie I get the backkslash, with
[2+0]~$ dig -v
DiG 9.9.5-9+deb8u8-Debian
[3+0]~$ grep --version
grep (GNU grep) 2.20
Both use the same nameserver, so we can eliminate that at least ...
