Thanks for (inadvertently) bringing this to my attention. I took
a look at Postfix, and we were using the "transitional" IDNA 2008
mappings which retain Eszett (mapped to "ss") compatibility with
IDNA 2003. While we don't need to switch to a new library, we do
need to set a non-default libicu4c option to get full IDNA 2008
non-transitional behaviour.
So, barring unexpected surprises, it seems rather likely that
Postfix 3.2 will also do full IDNA 2008 when it ships in early
2017. I think consistency among MTAs would be good in this
space.
FWIW, with browsers, I see Firefox and Chrome doing IDNA 2008,
while Safari is still IDNA 2003.
One last thing, that Eszett 'strasse.de' domain seems to be serving
malware, avoid or visit with suitably locked-down browsers.
