Understood. That all makes sense. I will do it.

Because this is a heisenbounce and DNS records with a TTL may be involved in
the tests (and also because, like you, I have many unrelated duties), it will
likely take me a while to complete the indicated tests. I'll try at various
times of day under various loads. We'll see what comes of the tests. Please
allow two weeks.

As Jasen has correctly surmised, tls had been required by the client only for
purposes of authentication and authenticated relay, not for clear transmission
over port 25. The result is that some of my emails were bouncing unencrypted
on port 25 -- which is probably okay (my emails probably have no content the
spy agencies want to read, anyway), but of course it wasn't right.

But, yes, I fixed that. It just took me a lot longer than it took Jasen to
figure that out.
