Steve: the copy to eximtrap never gets there if it didn't make it first time
because your filter says to do that. "first_delivery".
Both: the crash in the transport process was due to the unfound -D file. The
fix hardened the code against crashing but did not identify or fix the cause
of the missing file.
I've still not managed to recreate the situation.
