[exim] readsocket request string format?

Hi,

simple question, i did not find it in the docs: Is there any guarantee
about the ending of readsocket request string?
Is this always a zero-terminated c-string?

${readsocket{<name>}{<request>}{<timeout>}{<eol string>}{<fail string>}}
