Oh dear. Yes, the code changed when it started hanging on to the blocks for
re-use, and I didn't fix the documentation. Apologies. As you probably know,
PCRE1 (the 8.xx series) is now in "bug-fix only" mode, though I do think this
probably counts as a bug. Unfortunately, the latest release (8.38) is less than
a month old, so there will not be another one for about 6 months.
The currently developing PCRE2 (the 10.xx series) has correct documentation.
