My first sentence was: I still don't have visual c. I only have one windows
machine, but an update recently killed it and had to reinstall. Setting up an
environment for working there is so much pain that I decided to not do it.

Flags seems reasonable.

Oh, this may help! Perhaps the stack under windows is much smaller than on
Linux. Your pattern is quite stack heavy. Could you increase the stack size?
