I tried matching \b to both string, and pcre_exec rejects them with
PCRE_ERROR_BADUTF8. With PCRE_NO_UTF8_CHECK, I can confirm that bad things
happen.
Are you sure that options does not contain PCRE_NO_UTF8_CHECK somehow?
