Thanks for this bug report. The fault was caused by a range containing a
character with multiple other cases whose other case range started immediately
at the end of the given range (the character 'a' is adjacent to '`'). I have
fixed the problem in both PCRE1 and PCRE2 and the fix will be in the next
releases. The PCRE2 release is about to happen very soon - so this is timely -
and the PCRE1 release is expected within a month. Meanwhile, the fixed code has
been committed to the SVN repository (it's essentially a one-line fix). Your
analysis of the problem was absolutely correct.
