Could you rebase that?
I note it's missing documentation and doesn't match project coding guidelines
(can't blame you for that last; lots of the bits of input we've had over the
years don't. I'm trying to clean them as I come to them). Any contribution
into the testsuite for it would be most welcome.
We'll want to think about the syntax addition, and I'm not sure the use of
writev is worthwhile.
