[exim] Avatar [Probably OT]

Hi,

I have seen that many of you send mails with picture (avatar) that is displayed when I receive it.
Not in all clients, I see this on rainless webmail.
I would like to understand how it works. If someone has a link...
I'm not sure it is exim related. Sorry if it's really OT
