The code appears to do such binding already:

sock = ip_socket(SOCK_STREAM, host_af);
if (sock < 0) return;

if (ip_bind(sock, host_af, interface_address, 0) < 0)
  {
  DEBUG(D_ident) debug_printf("bind socket for ident failed: %s\n",
    strerror(errno));
