Yes, Outlook has known issues with multi-line responses.
You want to look at the "no_multiline_responses" item in
http://www.exim.org/exim-html-current/doc/html/spec_html/ch-access_control_lists.html#SECTcontrols and ensure that the first line of any SMTP responses sent to such clients includes all the information you want to provide, as they'll never see the other lines.
