What does "dig -x 192.168.xxx.xxx" tell you?

Exim does a reverse lookup on the connecting IP. As far as I know Exim
uses the system libraries. Depending on your /etc/nsswitch.conf you may
be using mDNS (Multicast DNS). Mostly this is triggered with the .local TLD
and used for reverse lookup too.

Try to remove the mdns* entries from your /etc/nsswitch.conf, but think
about the impact it may have :) … you will not be able to resolve the
nice <host>.local names anymore.
