So space ascii value should not be an issue here.

Both patterns are working on Linux.

Yes. PCRE uses the official unicode properties to determine the types of
characters when we decode a unicode stream. As far as I remember, some native
systems (e.g. IBM z/OS) might use different types, and the space might be not
encoded as 0x20.
