Looks like exim is expecting a MECH from dovecot, unsolicited, before it
speaks.
It'll also accept a matching VERSION and a DONE at that time but does not
require them.
One could wish that the dovecot docs actually specified the protocol rather
than giving an example. Presumably some previous version (1.0beta8 ?) behaved
differently to the 2.x referred to by that page?
Will changing this break against older dovecot versions?
