This would seem to be possible in a router using a dnsdb lookup,
something like:

${reduce {<\n ${lookup dnsdb{mx=dom.a.in}}} {99999} {${if < {${sg {$item}
{(\\d+).*} {\$1}}} {${sg {$value} {(\\d+).*} {\$1}}} {$item}{$value}}} }

to get the preferred item. Ugly, but possible.
As such, closing as WONTFIX.
