           Summary: Hoping for --dfa option

          Severity: wishlist

         Component: Code

                CC: pcre-dev@???

pcregrep does not provide an option to execute the provided regular expression
using the "dfa" execution option. To the extent that pcregrep is used as a test
vector vehicle, it would seem desirable to be able to test both execution
engines.

Would it be possible and worthwhile to add a --dfa or --exec-dfa option to
pcregrep, indicating that the supplied regular expression should be executed
(or should fail to execute for reported reasons) using the dfa exec functions?

If this if of interest, I'd be willing to dig in, do the work, and supply a
patch. Please let me know if that would be helpful.
