Of course, I forgot the most important caveat on patch 1: OpenSSL only. There
is code there for GnuTLS - and it crashes. I've not been able to work out why;
anybody with intimate knowlege of GnuTLS would be very welcome to have a look.
The problem is in the deserialize, passing the tls_out_peercert back from the
transport leaf process into the parent.
