Wireshark shows the protocol layering in a slightly weird way. If you look
at the SMTP layer which is shown above the message contents you will see
it shows the .<CRLF> terminator. So it was failing right at the end.
(When the breakage occurred in the message envelope it also failed at the
end of the pipelined envelope commands.)
