Your're talking about the $primary_hostname or about any other
hostname?

The log format is rather fixed, several tools rely on knowing the
format. (Once I patched the +pid log_selector and there followed
several changes.)

But, I can imagine having some +primary_host in the log_selector,
resulting in a log format about like this:

    … [4711] … +pid
    … [@foo.example.com] … +primary_hostname
    … [4711@???] … +pid +primary_hostname

End even the some +localhost_number log_selector.

    … [+7] … +localhost_number
    … [@foo.example.com+7] … +primary_hostname +localhost_number
    … [4711@???+7] … +pid +primary_hostname +localhost_number
    … [4711+7] … +pid +localhost_number

Probably helpful in shared environments with merged logfiles.

But this would be some kind of incompatible change and needs to be
discussed with the core developers.

I'm sure they read *this* message and can tell us what they think.
