Thank you for the reply, Mr. Hazel. I think this helps eliminate PCRE
versioning as a cause of the problem.
I can get consistent results when forcing /u in PHP, probably equivalent to
your /8W. I still have to look into the problem with "ASCII mode" and PHP.
