First, make sure that glibc-devel is installed. We'll assume that it is.
Look at the following thread where deep digging into the same symptoms
resulted in a lot of in depth discussion. Look at the last post for
the solution this guy ended up eventually using.

It's not ideal IMHO, but it likely will get you past your issue.
