There is a second part to this. The bug poster had completely commented out
the tls_option setting that is generated from parsing the URI (ldaps:/// versus
ldap:///), so he was not setting the base LDAP_OPT_X_TLS setting, which seems
to mean it inherited it from the system ldap.conf.
I still think the patch from
https://gist.github.com/mrballcb/6501428 is going
to fix the issue of "Setting ldap_require_cert overrides uri parsing to
determine base TLS options." Bug poster has not yet been able to test this once
we got the the NULL ldap handle issue from the previous comment fixed.
