Phil Pennock provided a fantastic solution to that a while back:
To get the last:
${reduce{${addresses:$h_from:}}{}{$item}}
To get the first:
${reduce{${addresses:$h_from:}}{}{${if eq{$value}{}{$item}{$value}}}}
