There is a new feature in the forthcoming 8.33 release which enables the
creator of a pattern to set the match limit by putting (*LIMIT_MATCH=10000)
(for example) at the start of the pattern, and similarly for the recursion
limit. I don't think there is anything else that can be done, so I am closing
this bug.
