Hi Simon,
welcome among us. I once discussed the JS compatibility in PCRE with Philip,
and he said it this flag is never intended to be fully compatible with JS. I
played with the JS regex tests + PCRE in WebKit before, and there were many
parsing and behavioural differences. I fixed some, but in general it was too
much work and there was no strong need to fix them. This is the current
situation, so if you really need full JS compatiblity, I would use a JS engine.
Unfortunately the name of this flag is quite misleading.
